What is a Repair Exchange? It is a free event where community members bring their broken or damaged household items — and volunteer fixers do their best to repair them on the spot! It’s a chance to learn, connect, reduce waste, and share skills!
Fix it, don’t ditch it! Potential items that can be repaired:
- Small appliances (toasters, lamps, etc.)
- Clothing and textiles (mending rips, sewing buttons)
- Jewelry (restringing, small fixes)
- Bikes (basic tune-ups and fixes)
Items that can be repaired will depend on the volunteers we are able to recruit!
🌟 CALL FOR VOLUNTEER FIXERS! 🌟
In order for this event to happen we need fixers! Are you handy with tools, a sewing needle, or know how to tune up a bike? We need you! Whether you’re a skilled tradesperson or a passionate hobbyist, your talents can make a real difference, you do not need to be an expert! The Arusha Centre is generously lending us all of the equipment and tools we should need so you won't need to bring your own.
If you’re interested in volunteering as a fixer, please reach out to the Southwood Community Development Worker Sarah Thomas sarah.thomas@calgary.ca 368-889-5168 or the Community Connector Teresa McLaren teresa.mclaren@calgary.ca 403-818-1849.
